Perhaps the most impressive aspect of stain glass is its appearance. Glittering chards of candy, that so closely resemble stain glass, the candy inherited its name. The chards are smooth and clear, crisp to bite but not so hard as to hurt your teeth, like some other hard candy often found in a civil war candy box. As for the flavor – a delightful cherry flavor, much like the old-fashioned cough drops, without being overly sweet. Also known as hard tack, this candy is so lovely it has endured for years, maintaining its place among classic 1800s candy favorites and historical candy collection.
