Our chocolate covered caramels are made in a small confectionery, now owned by third generation confectioners, using the family’s original, turn-of-century recipes. The chocolate is smooth and creamy – none of that waxy texture of corporate confectioners – enrobing the highest quality caramel imaginable. All the chocolate selections in this 12-piece box reflect the chocolate itself, the richest dark, milk and even white chocolates, no flatness or bitterness, just luscious chocolate flavor! The delightful box contains our own keepsake card with a historic image plus the story of chocolate covered caramels.
Selection of milk chocolate caramels, milk chocolate with sea salt caramels, dark chocolate caramels, and a white chocolate caramel. All delicious.

Our chocolate covered caramels are in the same style as when they were first made in the late 1800s: creamy, smooth, with a lingering finish. Chocolate was at an apex of innovation, thanks to new machinery and better transportation to get chocolate-making goods where they belonged. How did caramels begin? They emerged from the process of caramelizing sugar, the key to such delights as pralines. As time went on, people used caramel in a variety of styles from chocolate covered caramels to enrobed caramel marshmallows. By the 1930s, caramel appeared in candy bars, Sugar Daddy lollipops, Sugar Babies, Cream Caramels...not to mention ice cream toppings. America was hooked on caramel! Today, caramel is still one of the nation’s favorite styles of candy - second only to chocolate! Where did the caramel world get its start? Find out from Susan’s blog “The Making of All American Caramels.”
