DESCRIPTION
Buckeye candies originated in Ohio, named because Native American’s likened the nut of the state’s favorite tree to a “buck’s eye.” Each buckeye candy looks like the buckeye tree’s nut, with a classic chocolate shell and a peanut butter center – 100% smooth and relaxing, with a subtle sweet-salty flavor. While the buckeye resembles another favorite, the peanut butter cup, the peanut butter flavor is more pronounced. Comes with a keepsake card with the history on the back.

Historical Insights
Historical Insights
This American original resembles the nut of Ohio’s hazelnut tree, which Native Americans thought looked like a buck’s eye. The first sighting of the candy was in the 1880s made with peanut butter, an up-and-coming ingredient in candy and other sweets. Today, buckeyes reign supreme as Ohio’s state candy.
