DESCRIPTION
Dried orange peel has a bold flavor, one part citrus, one part bitter, and one part tangy sweet. They make an excellent tea and blend well with other teas. To make orange peel tea, just add one True Treats tea bag or one to two teaspoons of orange peel to a cup of boiling water. Let in steep for around ten minutes, depending on taste. The longer it sits, the stronger the taste.
Orange peels are rich in Vitamin C, riboflavin, thiamin, niacin, folate, vitamin A, and vitamin B-6, not to mention fiber. Oranges originated in China and the surrounding area, but they reached North America through Italians, Spanish, French, and Portuguese explorers. By the 1700s, oranges were enjoyed by well-to-do European Americans, and others who could get them, peel, flesh, fruit and all.
Also add orange peels to baked goods, salad oils, and a variety of beverages from cocktails to soda water. They also make great decorations whether on a cake or in a potpourri.
