Licorice Allsorts stand out from the other licorice candies as they are a variety of flavors, textures and colors. The flavors licorice, of course, ribboned with coconut, fondant, and fruit flavors. The sweet of the candy supporting the more pronounced licorice. As for the texture: the mix combines the creamy candy wrap with the shell of the pastels and the harder licorice flavor. The Licorice Allsorts was a wonderful accident. This British confection made in 1899 by Bassett’s Candy, was created when a company salesman was calling on a difficult customer. He neatly set out numerous trays of licorice candy, but they toppled over, pieces co-mingling into an assortment off “all sorts” of licorice. The customer actually liked them.
