DID YOU KNOW: Candy-makers were coming up with wild and fancy-free versions of bubblegum since the late 1800s. But the results were disappointing. Tasteless. Texture that dissolved. Bubbles that adhered to the skin. Then, a young accountant at the Fleer Gum Company came up with an altogether new iteration of bubblegum: Dubble Bubble. Soft texture, with a sweet dependable flavor, and the bubbles! Big, light, and easy to peel from the face....and - a deliberately misspelled name!
