DESCRIPTION
Amber beet sugars, America’s great secret sugar, has a rich, some say “earthy” tone, which distinguishes it from cane sugar or even the more processed white sugar. The beet crystals take longer to dissolve than white, fine grained sugars, so its flavor integrates nicely with whatever beverage you choose. As for the color: amber beet sugar is less refined than white sugar (or even processed beet sugar) so it retains natural pigments and minerals, another reason for its distinct taste. Most impressive is that beet sugar crystals are a mixture of brown, tan and even clear colors, each “rock” its own, individual size and shape. Comes with a keepsake card describing the sugar, with a period picture on the front. ALL NATURAL! Delightful!

Sugar Beets: The Sweet Secret Hiding in Plain Sight
In case you think you haven’t tried sugar beet, odds are, you have. Roughly 35 percent of all sugar produced worldwide comes from sugar beets and well over half of the sugar produced in the U.S. Most of it is grown in Colorado, Utah, and other cooler climates and ultimately ends up in your candy bar or chocolate creams. The story of the sugar beet begins with Napoleon Bonaparte, goes to abolitionists of the 1800s, and the kitchens of Americans everywhere after the Civil War. See what else Susan has to say from her award-winning book, “Sweet as Sin”!
