Strawberry leaf tea tastes much like black tea and is excellent in a festive punch or on its own. The tea has long been enjoyed by Native Americans and later European immigrants. Strawberry leaves are rich in antioxidants and calcium, and contain a number of vitamins and minerals.

The strawberry plant is native to North America where the Native Americans used the root, leaf, and fruit. The native berry was distinctly small, today’s berry is the result of colonization, spying, and science. Proclaimed virtues include its diuretic effects, and ability to reduce inflammation, stabilize the digestive tract and improve bone mineral density by improving calcium uptake.

To prepare, just add a few teaspoons to boiling water. Strawberry leaves pair with a variety of spices, teas, and flowers – try it with lemons, lemonade, mint, and even cloves.
