The word “Melt Away” started as an adjective in the 1920s, describing a candy or cake as having a “melt-away texture.” These were among the most luscious sweets around. When the melt-away candy appeared, food writers proclaimed:

Very disappointed with the mints. Cameron a screw top jar. Melted! Who knows who touched them putting them in the jar. Spent 14.00 for shipping. Was to be a welcome gift for a long time friend visiting! Sent a request for refund and absolutely no return response to my email! Still waiting for a response!
