DESCRIPTION

Gold Rush Gum is one-of-a-kind. Each cloth bag contains a rather lopsided yellow “nugget” meant to duplicate gold. The flavor is definitely not metallic – it’s sweet. The texture is bubblegum soft, meaning it’s fun, makes bubble-blowing easy, yet isn’t sticky. But let’s face it: the best part of Gold Rush Gum is its unique packaging and the chance for kids to join the Gold Rush of the mid-1800s  … even though they have no idea what the Gold Rush is!

Historical Insights

Gold Mine Gum was likely invented in the 1950s, but was passed on to some many candy companies – and was imitated by others – so it’s hard to say. The 1950s were a time of candy innovation as corporate candies rose up, in sharp and advertising-rich competition. Today, Gold Mine is considered an old-time retro chewing gum, which it certainly is.
