Fruit Slices are derived from classic gummy and gel-like candies, gum drops, jelly beans and the notable Turkish Delight, among them. The shape emerged in the late 1800s, when candy, fruit, and nuts were sold together everywhere from Department stores to general stores and penny candy shops. By the 1920s to 1930s, fruit slices were served at bridge games and social gatherings, along with other finger foods. Today they bring old time candy flair to holidays from Christmas to Passover to July 4th.
