To add more sass, the candy was renamed “Cherry Chaser” and later “Cherry Mash”—both names of popular sodas, homemade punches, and more significantly, cocktails. As the anti-alcohol temperance movement morphed into full-fledged Prohibition, Cherry Mash’s alcohol connection was a boon. People loved the name, the concept, and the candy bar.
