Description
A member of the rose family, blackberries have the widest and most varied origin of any fruit crop. They and were used in Europe as a food and medicine at least 2,000 years ago.
The health benefits of blackberries extend far and wide: Greeks used them to treat gout; followers of Wiccan religions believe blackberry leaves return evil to the enemies who sent it, and 10th-century Arab physicians considered it an aphrodisiac. Today, they are thought to be rich in vitamins.
