The pecan pies are delicious, if we do say so ourselves. Light, melt-in-your-mouth direct from a pecan plantation in Texas. The history is hard to say: most think it originated in Texas in the late 1800s, but pies were widely used in various forms for workers to eat at lunch. The praline originated in New Orleans based on the French praline in the 1700s, and the pecan is a native North American nut. An enslaved nurseryman, Antoine, created a hybrid pecan tree that was strong enough for the rigors of agribusiness in the mid-1800s and the rest is history. These pecans are bite-size, perfect after lunch, as a snack, or whenever else you want to indulge…but not over-indulge. Comes two to a bag with a collectable tag describing the history with an historic picture of the pecan tree.
