Description

Small Beer – The Drink for One and All!

Make your own small beer at home the original way, ready in just 24 hours. Sweet and hoppy. While beer was a Mount Vernon favorite, along with stain glass candy and cacao shell tea, small beer would have been enjoyed by servants, enslaved people, or children. Drinks with a higher alcohol content would have been served to the Washington family and guests.

What is Small Beer?

Small beer, named for its low alcohol content, was enjoyed by colonists and militiamen as a regular beverage.
