Syrup of the Bible – True Grape
The grape syrup has a rich, mellow flavor quite unlike the grape juice of today. The consistency, while made only of grape, is rich and thick like honey. In fact, grape syrup, also known as grape molasses, was used as a honey in Biblical times. Use in tea, baked goods, beverages of all sorts, or by the spoonful for a healthy and tasty treat. Comes in a glass bottle with a brief history and Biblical verse on a label and tag. 4.5 fluid ounces.
A Bit of History
The Biblical term for honey, “dvash”, usually referred to a thick grape, fig or date syrup rather than honey from bees. The most prevalent fruit in the Bible, grapes symbolized fertile land & Israel’s joyous covenant with the Lord. The grape syrup has long been known for its flavor and medicinal and health value.
“In my dream, behold, there was a vine in front of me; and on the vine were three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.” Gen. 40:10
