A Bit of History
The date tree may be the oldest fruit tree in the world. Dates were eaten by the ancient Israelites; used to make wine; and pressed for “honey.” They were esteemed in the Bible, and eaten stuffed with almonds, among other nuts, and honey. As for the almond: as the first tree to flower in spring it represented good beginnings.
