My Grandmother’s Purse

For generations, grandmothers have given grandchildren candies from the bottom of their purses or candy bowls at home. These candies were a gift of love and continue to be so today. In this spirit, True Treats Historic Candy has launched the Grandmother’s Purse project. We give 10% of our profits to groups in these areas:

  • Veterans and their families
  • Animals and the environment
  • Scholarships to culinary school

Our rules are simple. Organizations are welcome to let us know they’re interested or we’ll pick the right places ourselves. They must be non-profits, have no religious, political, or special interest affiliations, and they must be able to describe how they would use the funds.

When: We give our donations in mid-June and mid-December.

Who selects: The True Treats staff selects the recipients. We may break from our categories should an urgent need occur, such as a flood.

BUT WAIT: Candy is about fun and so are raffles and auctions. So, we’re happy donate an interesting and historic gift baskets to three organizations a month. Just let us know!
